Account Deletion

You can delete your Poll City account at any time. This page explains how, what happens to your data when you do, and what is retained for legal compliance.

Deleting a Campaign Account (Campaign OS)

In-app steps

  1. Open the Campaign OS at app.poll.city
  2. Click your name or avatar in the bottom-left corner
  3. Go to Settings → Security
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click Delete Account
  5. Enter your password to confirm

Alternatively, email privacy@poll.city from the email address on your account with the subject line “Delete My Account.” We will process your request within 10 business days.

Before you delete

Export your campaign data first. Go to Settings → Import / Export → Export All Data. After deletion, your data will not be recoverable.

Deleting a Poll City Social Account

In-app steps (iOS / Android)

  1. Open the Poll City Social app
  2. Tap your profile picture in the bottom navigation
  3. Tap Settings
  4. Scroll to Account and tap Delete Account
  5. Confirm when prompted

You can also email privacy@poll.city to request deletion. Include your registered email address and the subject line “Delete My PCS Account.”

What Happens When You Delete

When you request deletion, Poll City will:

  • Immediately deactivate your account — you will be logged out and unable to sign in.
  • Anonymise your personal information — your email address, name, postal code, address, and phone number will be replaced with anonymised placeholders.
  • Invalidate your active sessions — any devices currently signed in will be signed out immediately.
  • Remove your public content attribution — comments you posted on Poll City Social will appear as “Deleted user” rather than your name.
  • Remove your reactions and follows — your poll votes, follow relationships, and post reactions will be deleted.

30-Day Cancellation Window

After requesting deletion, you have 30 days to cancel the request if you change your mind. During this window:

  • Your account remains deactivated and you cannot sign in.
  • To cancel your deletion request, email privacy@poll.city from the email address you originally registered with.
  • After 30 days, the deletion is permanent and your data cannot be recovered.

Data Retained for Legal Compliance

Some data must be retained even after account deletion to comply with applicable law:

  • Donation records: Records of political donations processed through Poll City are retained as required by the Ontario Municipal Elections Act, the Canada Elections Act, or applicable provincial legislation. These records identify the donation amount, date, and campaign — not the personal details of your Poll City account.
  • Audit logs: System-level audit logs may retain anonymised references to account activity for security, integrity, and legal compliance purposes. These logs cannot be traced back to your identity after anonymisation.
  • Financial records: Subscription billing records are retained for a minimum of 7 years as required by the Income Tax Act (Canada).

Campaign contact data, voter list data, canvassing records, and other campaign-specific data created by your campaign are controlled by the campaign, not by your individual user account. If you are a campaign team member, your account deletion does not delete campaign data created while you were on the team — that data remains with the campaign.
